Under realistic conditions, a well-calibrated on-screen ruler will typically land within one or two millimeters of a physical ruler for short distances, but this is a general expectation, not a guarantee.

Do not rely on InchRuler.com for measurements that must be precise. For applications where a fraction of a millimeter matters — engineering drawings, machining, construction layout, medical dosing or sizing, legal evidence, safety-critical fittings, regulated manufacturing — use a physical instrument that has been calibrated for the purpose by a qualified person or laboratory.
